O governo russo nega a tentativa de assassinato

O governo de Joe Biden tornou públicos nesta terça-feira, 2, os relatórios de investigação sobre como a agência russa FSB esteve por trás do envenenamento de Alexei Navalny, o principal político de oposição ao governo de Vladimir Putin. Também foram anunciadas sanções contra Moscou pelo ataque e pela prisão de Navalny.

Sete dirigentes do governo russo foram sancionados; nenhuma advertência direta foi feita em relação a Putin. Washington confirmou que Navalny foi atacado com o produto químico novichok, que já havia sido usado em outros dissidentes políticos. Em conferência, autoridades do governo norte-americano afirmaram que a decisão foi tomada em coordenação com a União Europeia e reiteraram o pedido de Biden para que a Rússia liberte Navalny. A Rússia nega que tenha tentado matar o principal opositor de Putin no ano passado.
